The web is about words, also in social media ads

A very interesting A/B test shows a staggering 64.7% more website visits in a Facebook ad that featured more text and smaller image.

In a test published on WhichTestWon, an ad campaign for drawing people to a Breaintrust survey was tested in two versions. One with a larger image, one with more text. Traditionally, Facebook gives more importance to image marketing. But the more text version won by far.

If you’d believe most marketers and designers, the internet is about images and getting attention. It is not. The internet is about words and giving attention.

And that is not only my opinion, it gets confirmed by more and more evidence. More and more, images are being ignored. More and more, what looks like marketing is being ignored.
